This course provides a survey of basic economic principles such as supply and demand, scarcity and opportunity cost.  The interrelationship between government and the economy will be stressed in such macroeconomic topics as: unemployment; balance of trade; the federal budget; the global economy; and the economic implications of environmental concerns.  Microeconomics concepts such as cost analysis and competition will also be covered.  Attention will also be given to some consumer economics issues such as credit and consumer protection.
